Why is this the plan? Well, because there are many aspects of the plan that appeal to me. What is cooler than sending bits thru the air? Well, sending bits with the intentional orchestration displayed in haiku is a pretty good idea. Even if it's pricey, the Apple Airport is a really nifty little bit of hardware. Why do I use netbsd? Because it works, it's fast, and it's configurable. I've used other operating systems, but NetBSD is my good old standby. I've had machines with uptimes of more than a year. It's a solid OS, if you know what you are doing with it. Now the Dreamcast, well, I just threw that in cause it is particularly cool that a free OS can run on an embedded system. I might pick up an mmeye to do this in the future. But for now, the DC is the perfect box for portability becuase of the ethernet and the ability to put whatever hard-coded nifty NetBSD based system bits and apps I want onto a cd and have it be non-hackable. And then there's the 12V power source. I bet you didn't even think of that. :-)
